The New Zealand Green Building Council (NZGBC) is a non-profit membership organisation that promotes better buildings, because better buildings mean healthier, happier people. As well as exemplary research, the NZGBC oversees Homestar and Green Star the award winning certifications for (new) New Zealand homes and buildings, and the HomeFit standard for existing homes.
HomeFit is a new, simple standard designed by the New Zealand Green Building Council with industry and government to confirm that existing homes are warm, dry and healthy. Customers can use HomeFit in two ways – the free HomeFit Online Check and the certified HomeFit Assessment. The online check allows home buyers or renters to find out the important and often hidden features of a home before they buy or rent, and for homeowners to get valuable information and installer recommendations when considering renovations. An independent certification, carried out by NZGBC qualified assessors, is a way for sellers and landlords to prove that it meets or exceeds the Healthy Homes standards and promote that on real estate listings and places for rent.
